Leh Ladakh Tour
Ladakh is a beautiful place with stunning landscapes, unique culture and traditions, and plenty of adventure activities to explore. Here's a rough itinerary for a 7-10 day Ladakh tour:
How to reach: Leh has its own airport, which is served by direct flights from major airports in India. Also, the nearest railway station is Jammu Taiwai which is 700 kms from Ladakh.
What to Pack for Leh-Ladakh: As temperature stays at the lower in the night even during summer so you must have
1. Thermal or Sweatshirts with you
2. Windcheaters to protect from cold wind.
3. Sunscreen lotion during long travel
4. Medication which could be useful in case of any unusual.
5. Portable oxygen cylinder (small) if required.
Best time to Visit:
The Best time to visit Ladakh is during the summer season from the month of April to July during this time Ladakh temperature is between 15 to 30 Degree Celsius. Ladakh is known for its extremely low temperatures almost all through the year.
Day 1: Arrive in Leh
On the first day you will arrive in Leh and will transfer to your hotel.
After refreshment spend the day acclimatizing to the high altitude.
You can visit Leh palace which is of 17th century architecture, and you can explore the bygone golden era of Leh.
In the evening visit the local market and explore the town.
Day 2: Visit Monasteries
On the 2nd day you can go for visit to Shey, Thiksey, and Hemis monasteries.
Visit Spituk Gompa which is an age-old museum and is home to a number of ancient relics like the ancient masks, weapons and Buddhist paintings.
After that you can go for visit to Sham Valley
You can capture the view of Zanskar and Indus River.
At the end of the day return to your stay and spend evening with delicious meals.
Day 3: Pangong Lake
Drive to Pangong Lake (approx. 160 km)
Spend the day enjoying the breathtaking views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Take a short to the Chang-La Pass, which is one of the world's highest mountain passes. You can take break at Changla-Cafe which is located at Changla Pass.
Then take next destination to Druk Padma School, which was featured in the film "3 Idiots."
You may stay near Pangong lake and after completing the tour there return back to Leh.
Day 4: Nubra Valley
Drive to Nubra Valley via Khardung La pass (the world's highest motorable pass)
Visit the Diskit monastery and the sand dunes of Hunder.
Day 5: Explore Nubra Valley
Visit the Turtuk village and explore the local culture.
Enjoy a camel ride in the sand dunes of Hunder.
Day 6: Back to Leh
Drive back to Leh.
Visit the Shanti Stupa and Leh Palace.
Day 7: Explore Leh
Visit the Stok Palace and Museum.
Enjoy a trek to the nearby hills and enjoy the panoramic views of the town.
Day 8: River Rafting or Mountain Biking
Enjoy a thrilling rafting or mountain biking adventure in the Indus Valley.
Day 9: Visit Alchi and Lamayuru monasteries
Visit the Alchi and Lamayuru monasteries.
Enjoy the scenic drive through the Moonland landscape.
Day 10: Departure
Depart from Leh to Jammu airport or Jammu Taiwai railway station.
