Vizag Tour Plan

Vizag Trip

Vizag is Industrial zone of Andhra Pradesh. It is surrounded with hills and sea attracting many tourists.

I along with my family and Cousin's family visited Vizag in the month of October 2017 after Durga Puja. We planned for 4 Nights 5 Days visit to Vizag and Araku. Though for these two places you can plan for 3N 4D. As we have not returned ticket with that plan that's why we had to spent 1 day more but its worthy.

How to Reach: As we were travelling from Kolkata to Vizag, so we traveled by train from Howrah station. There are some trains that run from Howrah to Vizag and vice versa. It took around 16-18 hours by train.
As Visakhapatnam is an industrial area so it is easily connected by Road, Railway and Air. Vizag has its own airport.

Best Time To Visit: Try to travel there during Winter (November to February), as Vizag is humid and hot during summer, but Araku has pleasant weather all around the year.

Day 1: The Express train reached Vizag in the morning around 6:30. We have Hotel Dolphin booked earlier and directly went to the Hotel which is very close to Station. We got good deal from that Hotel so spent few less on lodging. It is one of the good hotels out there built by Ramoji Group. There are very few hotels which are available beside the Sea, and they are very expensive. Most of the hotels are within 500 meters to 2 kms from Sea beach of Ramakrishna Beach.
There is one famous beach is Rushikonda where the APTDC resort is available it is worthy to stay there, though we have not found the opportunity. It is full of nature around and in front of nice and clean sea beach.
We spent the day sightseeing the city. We hired car from the Hotel and visited Rushikonda Beach, VMRDA Kailash Giri, Simhachalam Temple, Tenatti Park and Dolphin Nose. We spent most of the time at Rushikonda Beach and Kailash Giri.
You can enjoy the ride of cable car at kailashgiri, you can view the whole city from there. It must try 😊. There is also toy train at the highest point (Kailash Giri) of the city. You just sit at the right-hand side of the train and enjoy the beauty of Sea surrounded with Hills and the City. Evening spent with chit chat.

Day 2:  One the second we headed to Araku by car in the morning around 8:30-9. The best way to travel Araku is by Train which leaves from Vizag Railway Station, and you can see the real beauty in both sides of the track and there are lot of tunnels during the journey.
The weather was very pleasant that day, it was cloudy and little bit of shower was there. It is around 115 Kms from Vizag to Araku. On the way you can visit Borra Caves which is one of the ancient and deeper caves in India.
So, we started stair down the cave. For older people it is not advised to go at the end of the depth as it is easy step down but very much difficult to step Up. It is almost 550-600 feet deep.
We went to the end of the cave and it's really astonishing how the architecture is made naturally. In the deep it illuminated so no need to worry explore this wonderful piece of nature.
After visiting the cave, we headed towards Araku Valley. The road is full of trees and the climate was so excellent raining sometime in that hilly road just awesome experience. So many bamboo chicken stalls are available there on the way. Though we have not tried them, but you can get the same at hotel at Araku. We reached around 8-8:30 PM there and but not tired even.
Araku has few hotels out there, but safest and good hotel is the APTDC (Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation) hotel.  We stayed at ARAKU, MAYURI, HARITHA HILL RESORT [VISAKHAPATNAM DIST.] It is at the heart of Vizag, Rest of them are near to Araku but at distant from there.

                                                     Greenery at Araku Valley

Day 3: Today we spent a leisure day at Araku. Spent the day roaming around tribal market, botanical garden and tribal Museum at Araku. You can enjoy the nature the full day or you can go back to Vizag as well to enjoy the sea beach.

                                                     Botanical Park @ Araku

Day 4: On the way back to Vizag we visited a nearby Waterfall. In the afternoon we reached at Hotel of APTDC (YATRINIVAS - HARITHA HOTEL). I couldn't manage to book APTDC resort which is always on high demand at Rushikonda  beach. After lunch and taking a small nap we roamed around the sea beach near to the hotel, visited the Submarine Museum and spent the evening with quite relaxing way with the gentle breeze around the sea. Today is the last day of our trip and we had booking of train from Vizag to Howrah tomorrow morning.

                                                        A clear Morning at Araku

Day 5: We left around 4:30 AM as we need to catch Hamsafar Express at 5:30AM which was coming from Vijayawada to Howrah. We reached Howrah on the same evening.
It was indeed a pleasant and breathtaking trip with family members.

There are few other Places (Ananthagiri, TYDA) around Vizag and Araku where you can stay for a day or two. Here is link of APTDC you can plan from here as well.
